Students across the world were able recently to take part
in a global educational competition to find out more about where thousands of
products like consumer goods come from. So they were looking at Country Of
Origin Labelling, or COOL- as in COOLXmas!
Schools and colleges were
able to win prizes for submitting the most products with their country of
origin to madeinnations.com and the other participating sites.
The competition could have been developed into a
project by schools and colleges to help students explore country of origin
issues, like CO2 emissions from transport and shipping, sustainable economies,
future employment and outsourcing, and country of origin labelling. We have left all the links students might have found useful on the Resources page.
We hope the project helped students
become more interested in careers in manufacturing, so they could become the
designers, engineers and workers who join together to make the products
(and Xmas presents) people will want to buy in the future!
